WinPE 11 - Comprehensive recovery environment for Windows (1)door you nguyen

This WinPE 11 is built on the basis of the Windows 11 recovery environment (winre.wim), which contains a number of common computer rescue tools.

The original version was built byWin10XPEtool, thank you for everything that makes a tool so great. I have modified and added some features for personal use. To use this build, just download the file and drag it into the AIO Boot NewGen tool.

(Video) How to Repair or Restore the Windows Recovery Environment WINRE | Fix ReAgentC errors in Windows 10

Personally, I find this WinPE 11 performance and experience worse than the WinPE 10 version I built before. The only purpose I made this version is for the new drivers in Windows 11.

Characteristics

The WinPE 11 version lacks none of the features of the WinPE 10 version.

  • Always log in with the Administrator account.
  • The user directory for the administrator account resides on the USB, so changes to files in the directory and changes to the user's registry keys are saved.
  • Changed settings such as Country, Time zone are saved.
  • Desktop icons and pinned taskbar icons that you and applications create are saved.

The PETool tool runs automatically when the administrator account is logged in. This tool offers the following minor tweaks:

  • Get more software:
    • Google Chrome v113.0.5672.127: Installation of the uBlock Origin adblocker is enforced by policy.
    • ESET Online Scanner will be downloaded with the latest version. Modules updated by the application are saved.
    • dem++.
    • Unikey is a Vietnamese typing program, don't download it if you don't need it.
  • Startup apps.
  • Virtual memory.
  • RamDisk:
    • Enter the percentage of free RAM you want to use to create a RamDisk (B:) drive. Default: 50%.
    • The size of the unit will not exceed the maximum value and will not be less than the minimum value. The maximum and minimum values have no effect if the amount of available RAM is insufficient.
    • If the percentage value is 0 or the selected value is less than 512 MB, no RamDisk volume will be created and the system will useX:\Tempas the temporary folder.
  • Administrator account:
    • Rename the admin account to your name or whatever you want. Welcome to your name.
    • The administrator account is protected with the default password set by the tool. You must change this default password.
    • The password must be between 8 and 16 characters long.
    • Restart the machine for the changes to take effect.
  • Country & Region: Here you can change the country setting, you also need to change the time zone and region format.
  • Change Wallpaper: Change the desktop background.
  • Change resolution:
    • Pecmd provides a fixed list for all devices, PETool provides a list of only supported resolutions for the device.
    • Update List: Use this when new drivers are installed.
  • Log out: Log out of the account, enter the password on the lock screen to log in again.

Startup applications

This function simply adds values to the registry key as describedhere. Although it is simple, in my opinion it is the start of many adjustments that we can make automatically.

How to use?

  • Right-click on an item to interact with it.
  • click noAddbutton to add a new item. OCommand lineit can be the path to an EXE, BAT, CMD file... For example, if you want to run cmd.exe automatically on login, type CMD in the fieldDescriptionfield and type cmd.exe in itCommand linekamp.
  • Do not uninstall PETool.

Commands are launched very early, possibly before commands in pecmd.ini are completed. If the application requires a TEMP directory or a network connection, a BAT file should be used to slow down the execution of the commands.

virtual memory

This version requires a minimum of 2 GB RAM, by default PETool initializes the PageFile file on machines with 2 GB RAM or less.

  • The tool automatically selects a suitable drive to create the file.
  • This file is not deleted on exit.
  • This file must be deleted to free up disk space.
  • File name: ?:\winpe_pagefile.sys.
  • The minimum file size is 128 MB. The maximum size you tell the tool or pattern is 4 GB.

Includes software

This WinPE 11 includes some general rescue software, mainly for backup and recovery, partitioning tools and other utilities.

(Video) What is Windows PE? ( + How to Get It )

APFS for Windows, HFS+ for Windows, and LinuxFS for Windows software services do not start automatically. You need to run the software and clickrestart the service.

Is it possible to install additional software in this environment?

  • First check that the necessary components for the program are not missing (DLL files, registry keys, drivers...).
  • Does the program offer "Install for this user only" option? In this case, the settings are written to HKEY_CURRENT_USER instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE so that these settings are not lost when the machine is restarted. If not, does the program use the setting written in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE? In that case, these settings will be lost when the machine is restarted and the program may not work properly. Similarly, the program installs files on drive X:? All changes made to this disk will be lost on exit.

There are many other useful software that can run in this WinPE environment. If you don't want to use Google Chrome, you can download and use Firefox from PortableApps.

To download

This WinPE 11 is purpose built forAIO boot NewGen, just download the 7z file below and drag it into the tool to integrate. Note that only Legacy and UEFI x64 booting is supported.

If you are upgrading from an older version, uninstall it\AIO\PEx64\Usersfolder to get the new settings and recreate the desktop shortcuts. Don't forget to back up all important data in this folder.
