EP35: The Freezer
On June 2, 1991, in Southern California, Denise Huber was getting ready to go to a Morrissey concert with a friend. After the show, she and her boyfriend, Rob, went for a drink at a local bar. They invited more friends to join them and the evening didn't end until the last phone call. Denise dropped Rob off at her house around 2am and told him she was on her way home. She was never seen alive again. Denise's car was found by the side of the road the next day, but police were unable to find any leads. It wasn't until three years later, when someone saw a Ryder truck parked in an Arizona driveway, that the horror of what had happened to Denise surfaced.

EP91: The Barbaric Murder of Deuce-Seven by Brandy Duvall
On the night of May 30, 1997, Brandaline "Brandy" Rose Duvall walked out of a friend's house in her red Chicago Bulls jersey and headed for a bus stop to catch a ride home. Along the way, Brandy encountered gang members from the Latino branch of the Crenshaw Mafia Gangster Bloods - they called themselves the Deuce-Seven. That night was a special night for Deuce-Seven, as they were taking a new member into their gang and planning to make it a night to remember.
Unfortunately for Brandy's friends, family and the city of Denver, it would be a night they would rather forget.

EP62: Don't go in the basement!
A week before Christmas 1983, Kathy Smith went shopping for gifts for her three children. Later that night, when she returned home to Philadelphia, she noticed that the lights in most areas of the house were out. She called her mother, who lived next door, and she came with a flashlight. Together they went down to the basement to see if any fuses had blown. Then their nightmare began...

EP 137: The Beast of British Columbia
The province of British Columbia, Canada, was gripped by a series of disappearances and deaths of young people in the early 1980s. At first, police thought the missing children might have run away and didn't spend much time investigating the cases. However, when a 9-year-old boy went missing and his body was later found, the police realized that 9-year-olds don't tend to run away from home. Eventually, the police would arrest Clifford Olson, who would be dubbed "The Beast of British Columbia". Listen to this week's episode to learn more about the 11 murders of children ages 9-18 that Clifford confessed to, as well as other possible murders he may have been responsible for.

EP139: The Deacon of Death
As someone interested in true crime, you always think you can see a vine a mile away, correct? Maybe he's driving a creepy van or dropping another hint that he's a goofball - but what if he looks like your average middle-class American? And he's a deacon in your church, with a wife and family? You may still be wary, you know, since BTK was a similar type - but most people are mistaken. Just like the victims in today's story - they thought they knew the killer well enough to trust him. That was their first mistake.

Wondery Presents: De executie van Bonny Lee Bakely
On May 4, 2001, Bonny Lee Bakley was found shot to death in a car on a dark street in North Hollywood. The prime suspect was her husband, renowned actor Robert Blake. But Bonny, an old con artist, had many enemies. She left behind a trail of men she scammed and had a volatile relationship with Christian Brando, the troubled son of movie star Marlon Brando.
Not since the O.J. Simpson if the nation's eyes were so focused on a murder. The search for Bonny's killer has taken the detectives on an 11-month journey across the country and into the underbelly of Hollywood's drug dealers, drug addicts and would-be assassins. It would be the most expensive homicide investigation in LAPD history to date.
This is the story of Robert and Bonny's toxic relationship, their shocking murder and their chaotic trial. Did actor Robert Blake kill his wife? Or was the murder someone else's revenge?
From Wondery, and the team behind the hit series Hollywood & Crime (The Dating Game Killer, The Wonderland Murders, Death of Starlet), comes a six-part series about love gone wrong, obsession and fame. Co-hosted by Tracy Pattin and Josh Lucas.

EP51: The Dark Strangler
Earle Nelson was the first American serial killer to gain media exposure in the US, Canada and Australia. During 1926-1927, he killed at least 22 people, most of which were classified as "sex murders" - meaning Earle took sexual pleasure during the murder. Earle denied responsibility for the murders until his last breath - which was taken on the gallows at San Quentin Prison. Listen to this week's episode to learn more about Earle's depraved and heinous crimes and what led to his arrest. However, most people have never heard of Louisiana's other serial killer: Nathaniel Code. Nathaniel had a unique ritual that linked him to at least eight murders, but his actual victim count is estimated to be double that. What made his crimes so unique that not even the FBI had seen anything like it before?

EP10: Pain is for learning
In the summer of 2014, the decapitated body of a man was found off the trail in a city park. Police soon discovered that the deceased young man's eight-month-pregnant girlfriend had been missing for days. The investigation led them to a basement full of instruments used for torture. Even more disturbing than that was the collection of home videos they found, along with a note that read, in part, "Pain is for learning."

EP180: The Little Old Lady Killer (La Mataviejitas)
Today's episode is about a Mexican serial killer. As if that wasn't distinctive enough, our assassin was also a professional wrestler. Juana Barraza had a very sad and difficult childhood and grew up with a disdain for her mother. The fact that she hated her mother led her to hate all "old" women, enough to have killed 42 to 48 women, according to authorities. Despite these numbers, Juana was convicted of only 16 counts of murder and was sentenced to 756 years in prison.

EP172: Who Killed Cheryl Coker?
A HUGE THANK YOU TO JESS M. WHO PROPOSED THIS EPISODE!
On October 2, 2018, Cheryl Coker dropped her teenage daughter, Mikayla, off at school and supposedly went home, her cell phone records said. She didn't show up for work later that morning, and when Mikayla came home from school, Cheryl was nowhere to be seen. When Cheryl's car was discovered later that day at a local Kroger grocery store containing Cheryl's purse and phone, her family knew something was wrong. Closed-circuit footage shows a man getting out of Cheryl's car, but her face is never seen. Cheryl's remains were found on April 25, 2000, and her killer is still at large. If you have information about her case, please contact the Ohio Department of Criminal Investigations (CBI) at 800-282-3782 or submit a tip online at their website.

EP68: Death of a DEA agent in Mexico
In 1983, four American Witnesses accidentally knocked on the door of drug dealer Ernesto Fonseca. Paranoid they were undercover DEA agents, he had his accomplices (one of them El Chapo) kidnap, torture, rape, murder and dismember them. Then, a month later, two American tourists walked into a seafood restaurant for dinner, unaware that it was booked for a cartel party. Tourists were also kidnapped, tortured and killed. But it wasn't until the Guadalajara Cartel kidnapped, tortured, and murdered DEA agent Enrique Camarena that the United States finally put an end to its murderous rampage.

EP43: Buried in a box
In September 1981, in the idyllic village of Eiching, Bavaria, Germany, a 10-year-old girl named Ursula Herrmann was cycling home from dinner at her aunt and uncle's house. Ursula never returned to her home and seemed to vanish into thin air. Her parents received two ransom notes and phone calls from the kidnappers, but after they agreed to pay the ransom and worked out the details of the ransom, communication suddenly stopped. Searchers, combing the woods after Ursula had been missing for 19 days, found a strange wooden box buried in the woods. When they opened it, little Ursula's mysterious disappearance only got more intriguing...

EP25: Murders in the Mangroves
Gerard Schaefer, a former Florida police officer, is one of the most vicious and prolific serial killers in the world. For ten years he tortured, mutilated and murdered women on three different continents. In fact, he enjoyed the mental pain more than the physical pain he inflicted on his victims, preferring to kill two women at once for "twice the pleasure". To make sure he wouldn't get caught, he studied the behavior of other serial killers. However, in 1972, two women managed to escape when Gerard left them tied in the mangroves with nooses around their necks while he went to work. He was arrested by his colleagues at the police station where he worked. While in prison, he mingled with the likes of Ted Bundy and Otis O' Toole, later claiming that Ted Bundy asked him for advice. Gerard Schaefer is proof that monsters can disguise themselves as normal humans.

EP147: honor killing
On June 30, 2009, four people were found drowned in a car at Kingston Mills Locks in Ontario, Canada. What at first appears to be a very tragic car accident turns out to be one of the most terrible betrayals a parent can inflict on their child. Mohammed Shafia was a successful millionaire who lived in Quebec, Canada with his wife, seven children and his cousin. Mohammed emigrated to Canada from Afghanistan and, instead of assimilating to Canadian life, continued to practice his Afghan traditions, including what happened when he believed his daughters had dishonored his family.

EP126: Een Fazenda da Casa Queimada
In 2003, Brian Waters and another man were sadistically tortured for hours at the Burnt House Farm stable in England. Brian's adult children had to watch as a group of men brainstormed inhumane ways to abuse their father. One of them, Christopher Guest More, Jr., was a former television researcher who had worked undercover for the BBC a few months earlier. In the end, the police arrested five men for the murder, but Christopher managed to live under an assumed name for 16 years. During that time he lived in a mansion on the island of Malta, captained a yacht for the wealthy, drove luxury cars and even worked with the Moroccan royal family. How did someone responsible for one of England's most brutal murders get away with it for so long? Warning: This case is horribly awful.

EP155: The Brutal Murder of Cherish Perrywinkle
A BIG "THANK YOU" TO PATREON SARAH and DANIELLE B!
Eight-year-old Cherish Perrywinkle was shopping with her mother, Rayne, near Jacksonville, Florida, on June 21, 2013. Rayne struggled financially when she thought she had been blessed by a kind stranger, especially when this stranger told her that he and his wife had a $100 gift card to Walmart to give her and he wanted her to buy what she needed . The nice stranger was Donald James Smith - who was not nice at all. He was a lifelong child predator who fell through the cracks of the Florida prison system. A month earlier, Donald was still in prison, but on that fateful day in June, he was hunting another innocent child. As the night wore on, Cherish and her two sisters got hungry, and Donald offered to buy them cheeseburgers at McDonald's in Walmart. Donald and Cherish went to get the cheeseburgers, but instead Donald took Cherish out of the store and she was never seen alive again. Listen to this week's episode to hear the story that even the coroner who performed Cherish's autopsy had to take a break from his testimony at Donald's trial.

EP36: Killing the Man in the Mirror
In the summer of 1984, 14-year-old Kenny Myers left home to go cycling when he didn't return, his mother reported him missing. His strangled body was found 30 miles away in a park. A year later, 13-year-old Shawn Moore disappeared while cycling and, like Kenny, his decomposed body was found two weeks later 150 miles from his home. Other teenage boys reported being kidnapped in the same way, but were released after their assaults. Tips began to pour in and eventually the killer, 26-year-old Ronald Bailey, was arrested. His background showed a history of kidnappings and homosexual rapes, starting when he was just 13 years old. In the end, Ronald opened the John Douglas FBI forensic profile about how he chose his victims and his method of murder. Ronald killed boys who reminded him of his younger self. He rationalized that if he could kill his teenage self, he could stop the monster he grew up with from hurting others. No one will know the actual number of Ronald's murder victims, but authorities are confident that Shawn and Kenny were not alone.

But she never made it, Sheree disappeared. When his car mysteriously turned up hundreds of miles away in Las Vegas weeks later, no one could say how it got there. When a young mother disappears under unexplained circumstances, the police always look suspiciously at her husband. And while there was suspicion surrounding Charles Warren, he wasn't the only suspect when Sheree disappeared. She also had a boyfriend, an ex-cop named Cary Hartmann, who led a sinister double life.
Season three follows two suspects - men who have raised eyebrows in front of detectives. But with two strong people of interest with conflicting facts and evidence, it confused the murder investigation. This season, host Dave Cawley delves into the lives of these two men, the details of the case and explores the intersections between domestic violence and sexual assault. The COLD team tries to answer the question: what really happened to Sheree Warren? Download the Amazon Music app today:[Click here]

EP161: The Dark Sleep
South Central Los Angeles in the late 1980s was a terrible place to be. The area was rife with crime, drugs and a struggle for survival. Many women have turned to sex work to help feed their addiction or feed their families. As many of you know, the police tended to turn a blind eye when dead sex workers were found, and had an attitude as if the victims were expendable. Because of this attitude, serial killers often made South Central LA their hunting ground, and Lonnie Franklin Jr. Nicknamed "The Grim Sleeper" for the supposedly extended break he took from killing - Lonnie's actual kill count will never be known.

TW: Serious child abuse
There was a time in this country when there was really no law against child abuse. It wasn't until 1975 that the state of Minnesota passed child abuse legislation, and in 1971 the Minnesota State Supreme Court heard its first "battered child syndrome" case. This week's case centers on the horrific treatment and death of three-year-old Dennis Jergens at the hands of his foster mother — someone he was never allowed to adopt — in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Be warned, it's terrible.

EP40: Murphy's Creek
In 1974, two Australian nursing students, Lorraine Wilson and Wendy Evans, decided to take time off from work and school to travel around Australia. Unfortunately for the young ladies, Lorraine's car broke down in the middle of the holidays and the garage said it would take over a week to fix it. Undeterred, the two decided to hitchhike to Brisbane to spend a week with Lorraine's sister. As the days passed, Lorraine became more concerned that her car would not be repaired in time for the two women to return to work on October 10, 1974. On October 6, Lorraine and Wendy could no longer wait for Lorraine's car to arrive. When that was done, the two set out on foot, hoping to hitchhike home. They never made it. Lorraine's aunt reported them missing on October 12, 1974, but it would take nearly 40 years to uncover the truth about what happened to these women. While there were at least a dozen bystanders who witnessed the crime and more than 10 men who participated in the brutal rapes of the women, fear combined with the mistakes of the authorities led the perpetrators to get away with the murder and escape justice .

James eventually told police about the rape, murder, and removal of six young women, some of them as young as teenagers, at the hands of his friend Christopher Worrell. James, who had a crush on Chris (although Chris didn't return the affection) and helped Chris capture these girls despite knowing they were in grave danger. Chris was ultimately credited with the deaths of seven women, though he's probably responsible for many, many more - listen now to hear about one of Australia's most notorious serial killers.

EP58: An American serial killer
Women in San Diego, California were on the brink of hysteria in 1990. The headlines read "Scary Serial Murders Have San Diego Women On Edge". A monster broke into the apartments of young women during the day and killed them. Six women were murdered in a year and dozens more were robbed. Also, a handful of women narrowly escaped the clutches of this serial killer. A profile was developed by the FBI, which determined that the attacker was a "signature killer" who was also a piquerest. Unbeknownst to the police, they had spoken to the killer, Cleophus Prince, Jr. several times, but he didn't fit the profile, so they never pursued him as a viable suspect.

EP135: MONEY CHANGES EVERYTHING
Pop star Cyndi Lauper once sang "Money Changes Everything" and nothing could be further from the truth. People fight over money every day, and this turns family members against each other. Men against women, brothers against each other, parents against children... it goes on and on. One of those families affected by the money was the Mack family in Reno, Nevada. When Charla met Darren Mack and they fell head over heels in love, Darren didn't mind spoiling his fiancee with trips and expensive gifts. But when Charla filed for divorce, the wheels fell off the bus, so to speak. When he once made more than $40,000.00 a month, Darren claimed that he only made $5,000.00 a month and was able to afford the financial settlement he made with Charla in court. But when he was ordered to pay Charla her million dollar settlement, Darren lost. He decided murder was the only way to solve his financial problems... but Charla wasn't the only victim he had in mind.

EP42: The Tortures of the Cult of Rulo
In the early 1980s, Michael Ryan was the leader of a small group of followers who lived together on an 80-acre pig farm in Rulo, Nebraska. All of the group's decisions were determined by what they called the "test of the arm," which was God's way of speaking to them. However, Michael did not have to use the arm test because he claimed that God spoke directly to him in his spirit. In 1985, some members began expressing doubts about the arm test, which Michael said angered God. Over the next few months, Michael devised creative ways to abuse and torture doubters. This led to the brutal death of 5-year-old Luke Stice. While Luke's death was gruesome, it cannot be compared to James Thimm's systematic torture, humiliation, and humiliation. Over a period of a few weeks, James was forced into bestiality, starved, and shot. But Michael decided that wasn't punishment enough for James. So for three days, Michael and his minions mistreated James in unimaginable ways. The death came as a relief to James as the brutality this episode discusses is beyond comprehension. Warning: This episode is extremely graphic.

EP152: THE FAILURE OF MICHAEL TAYLOR'S EXORCISM
In 1974, Michael and Christine Taylor joined the "Charismatic Christianity" movement after Michael suffered a back injury that resulted in depression. An overnight exorcism was performed on him, supposedly expelling 40 demons. In the early hours of the morning, only three demons remained: insanity, murder, and violence. Those who performed the exorcism were too tired to expel the remaining evil spirits and sent Michael home. Two hours later he was arrested for the brutal murder of his wife.

EP46: The Murder of Jill Behrman
On May 31, 2000, 19-year-old Jill Behrman disappeared while cycling in Bloomington, Indiana. A local woman named Wendy Owings and two of her shady friends confessed to 46 people that they killed Jill. Wendy made a detailed confession to the police and passed a polygraph test for her statement of the crime. Wendy's confession led police to drain Salt River where they found evidence corroborating her story; however, they didn't have enough to make an arrest and they still hadn't found Jill's body. Three years later, a hunter found Jill's remains in a heavily wooded area and the whole thing was turned upside down. The police no longer targeted Wendy and her friends and instead arrested another local man, John Myers II. In 2006, he was tried, found guilty and sentenced to 65 years in prison. In 2019, his conviction was overturned. So who killed Jill Behrman?

EP181: The Massacre of the Richardson Family
The Richardson family seemed like the perfect family. Living in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada, Marc and Debra had two children, Jasmine and Jacob. Marc and Debra seemed like loving, concerned parents who were concerned for their children's well-being. Jasmine was a great kid until she started diving into the dark side of the internet and the "goth" lifestyle. It was on the internet that she met Jeremy Steinke, age 23, and fell head over heels in love. Her parents disagreed - especially since Jasmine was TWELVE when she met Jeremy. Angered that her parents imposed rules and tried to stop her from seeing Jeremy, the two decided to impersonate and kill the characters from her favorite movie - "Natural Born Killer" to have a relationship that no one could break. That is, except for law enforcement.
